Marlies Barends is a versatile Illustrator with a dedication for efficiency and speed to meet production deadlines. With nearly 10 years of industry experience as a 2D Game Artist, with three shipped AA-titles including bestseller and winner of 3 Dutch Game Awards ‘Reus’, she knows exactly what visual assets a game project needs. She loves working close to programmers, and taking care of close integration with the codebase or (in-house) toolset.
Since 2020, her main focus is illustrating for board games, with a love for games that have cultural, historical or natural subjects. She has provided the interior art for Roll-and-Write success Three Sisters by Motor City Gameworks, along with Australia-themed Queensland by 999 Games, and Grand Gamers Guild's Tir na nOg.
